Why this matters
ESG is becoming an increasingly critical valuation measure.
Public and private companies are being rated on their ESG practices today and stakeholders, including consumers, are making decisions based on ESG scores.
Therefore, as demand for sustainability and ESG information steadily increases, management, stakeholders, and customers need a way to evaluate how companies perform from an ESG perspective. ESG Scores are that measure. Management, stakeholders, and customers need a way to evaluate how companies perform from an ESG perspective. ESG Scores are that measure.
An ESG score is the measure of a company's exposure and management of environmental, social, and governance, relative to risk/opportunity, performance, governance, and leadership.
Increasingly, investors, credit rating agencies, insurance companies, and other stakeholders are integrating ESG scores with credit scores to determine the viability and value of an organization.
The current problem is ESG scores are derived mainly from outside analysts and artificial intelligence algorithms searching the internet for company-related ESG practices and reports associated with that company. These scores are subjective at best and leave companies vulnerable and at high risk due to misinformation, inconsistent, not auditable, and inaccurate ESG scores.
Your ESG score is the result your company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies, processes, and performance relative to its financial and reputational risk and value creation in consideration of all stakeholders, collectively referred to as your ESG intelligence or 'Impakt IQ'.
